Fuel supply

GT units in TPP Brestanica run on natural gas and extra light fuel oil. For ecological and economic benefits, natural gas is the first choice. Gas supply being limited with transport capacities, high availability of GT units is provided with extra light fuel oil. This fuel is always available because it is stored on site.

Natural gas is supplied via incoming gas pipeline connected into the gas measurement-regulation substation. Outgoing are two internal high-pressure pipelines:

• 20 bar pipeline for PB2 and PB3 and
• 30 bar pipeline for PB4 and PB5

Both pipelines have the appropriate filters and flow measurements mounted on them.

For extra light fuel oil storage and supply, three 6500 m3 aboveground vertical fuel storage tanks are in use. These tanks have floating roofs, measurement equipment and adequate fire protection systems. They are located in a concrete containment bowl, which would keep the whole amount of stored oil from spilling.
Lorries are used to transport fuel oil.
