Water treatment

In the process of electrical energy production, decarbonised and demineralised water is needed. It is prepared in the chemical water treatment facility. 175 m3 of decarbonised and 70 m3 of demineralised water per hour is available.
Raw water is drawn from stream Brestanica. Previously heated water is dosed in the chemical reactor. There calcium or magnesium particles are separated from the water. This water in then filtered in sand filters. Water can now be used to fill cooling systems or be further treated and demineralised.
Demineralisation is performed on two lines, each of which contain a cation and anion exchanger and mixed ion exchangers. Demineralised water is stored in a tank and used in GT units to reduce nitrogen oxide concentrations.
